Jerdons Leafbird

The Jerdon’s Leafbirds are small colorful songbirds and are found in Southern India, Gujarat, central Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sri Lanka. The name Jerdon honors the famous British Physician, Zoologist & Botanist Thomas C Jerdon. He was a pioneering ornithologist who described numerous species of birds in India. It has traditionally been considered a subspecies of the blue-winged leafbird but they differ in measurements and morphology. They are also known as Jerdon’s Chloropsis, Blue-winged Leafbird, Yellow-headed Leafbird, Golden-hooded Leafbird, Golden-headed Leafbird, Golden-mantled Chloropsis, Gold-mantled Chloropsis, Gold-mantled Leafbird, Golden-mantled Leafbird.
